Celtic have warned supporters not to bring any form of pyrotechnics to Parkhead for Wednesday night’s Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

The Scottish Premiership side were fined €10,000 by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body following the throwing of fireworks during their final league-phase match against Aston Villa on January 29.

And the club could still face future UEFA punishment if pyrotechnic use continues, despite avoiding a stadium ban for their crucial away fixture with Bayern Munich in Germany.

Celtic posted the following on their club website on Monday: “Celtic encourages our supporters to support the team positively.

"The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited. Again, we stress the dangers surrounding fireworks and pyrotechnics, which are a serious risk to spectator safety.

“The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at this fixture.”
